POSITION: Accounting Clerk (Part-Time)   

  

WORK SCHEDULE: 15 Hours Per Week    

  

COMPENSATION RANGE: $18.00 -$23.00 per hour (based on experience)  

  

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:  All qualified applicants will be considered.  However, priority consideration will be given to current members of Hillcrest Baptist Church.  

  

WORK LOCATION:   2200 IVERSON STREET, TEMPLE HILLS, MD 20748

NUMBER OF VACANCIES:  ONE (1)  

   

DESCRIPTION:  This is a part-time church staff position.  This person will be responsible to ensure timely payment of all expenses, record all receipts, maintain financial and tax records, and prepare financial reports. The compensation for this position is based on the church’s approved annual budget allocation.


DUTIES:

A.  Receipts and Disbursements:

     1. Record receipts and disbursements to all accounts using QuickBooks system.

     2. Enter all invoices received, process checks, submit to appropriate persons for signature, and prepare for mailing.

     3. Reconcile monthly bank statements.

     4. Maintain files of invoices, related correspondence, and reports.


B. Prepare Reports:

    1. Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for Pastor, Church Administrator, Budget and Finance committee and church business meetings.

    2. Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to all church ministry leaders.


C. Files and Tax Forms:

    1. Maintain filing system and storage system for all financial records and banking records for easy retrieval.

    2. Maintain historical data, and establish retention system for old financial records in accordance with Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB)         requirements (minimum of 5 years).

    3. Prepare and distribute 1099’s to all persons receiving more than the amount established by the IRS for the year.


D. Other Duties:

    1. Receive and respond to queries concerning financial matters.

    2. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

    3. Ability to meet deadlines.

    4. Attend church business and church council meetings. 

    5. As necessary, coordinate with Pastor, Church Clerk and Budget & Finance Leads. 


QUALIFICATIONS:  The applicant must possess two (2) years of work experience or education related to the duties of this position.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

1.  Ability to accurately apply accounting and math skills.

2.  Working knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheets, and financial systems (i.e. Automated Church

     System (ACS), Quickbooks)

3.  Knowledge of annual tax requirements for employees (i.e. 1099’s).

4.  Ability to meet and deal with staff and other church ministry leaders in a discreet, friendly, professional and Christ-like manner as it pertains to

     finances and financial records. 

5.  Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.  

  

All qualified applicants will be rated and ranked based on responses submitted to the above KSA’s. All, some, or none of the qualified applicants may be interviewed for the position.  

  

Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary but requires walking, standing, and occasional light lifting.   

  

SUPERVISOR:  The Church’s Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of this position.  If the Administrator’s position is vacant, the Pastor will be the supervisor until an Administrator is appointed.
