Job Title: Interim Pastor
Status: Full-Time
Geographic Location: Temple Hills, Maryland
Hillcrest Baptist Church – We are a body of believers in Jesus Christ, we walk together in Christian love, striving for the advancement of Hillcrest Baptist Church in worship of one true God, and love of our neighbors as defined by God.
Hillcrest Baptist Church is seeking to call an interim pastor to support the congregation and help prepare for new pastoral leadership during its period of transition.
Overview: The Interim Pastor will be responsible for providing pastoral leadership and administrative oversight of the church’s ministries, including worship, music, preaching, teaching, mission service, stewardship, and fellowship. He will work with the church staff to provide opportunities for members to engage in worship, discipleship, and mission. He will use his interim specialist skills to assess the congregation's current and long-term needs and provide counseling and leadership to help the church identify what its needs are for the future.
Responsibilities:
- To provide biblically based preaching and teaching to a church in transition.
- To support the church’s ministries, committees, and other groups, including the Trustee Board and Deacons Board.
- To administer sacrament of Communion and Baptism
- To officiate at weddings and funerals of members.
- To be devoted to meeting the needs of Hillcrest Baptist Church and its congregation.
- To have highly defined skills to deal with people and to be willing to communicate with church members openly and honestly.
Qualification:
- Graduate of a divinity school
- Ordained Minister/Pastor
- Experience as a called pastor and/or interim pastor
- Completion of Interim Ministry training
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Full-Time Interim Pastor Job Description
(Based on 40 hours per week)
- Preaching four Sundays per month or five Sundays when there is a five-Sunday month – 4 hours
- Conducting Bible Study - 2 Hours/1 day a week
- Keeping Office Hours – 8 hours/5 days a week (Hospital, Home visiting, and clergy meetings are considered the office hours of the day)
- Attending Meetings, this is considered office hours of the day
- Performing baptisms, funerals, and weddings
- Responding to emergencies which may require pastoral presence in non-scheduled hours
