 EMPLOYMENT POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: Pastor

                 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Hillcrest Baptist Church, located at 2200 Iverson Street in Temple Hills, Maryland, is seeking a Full-Time Pastor.

 

The pastor shall be a baptized believer in the doctrine of faith as held by the Southern Baptist Convention denomination and a dedicated servant of God. 


He must be endowed by nature, grace, and training and committed to the standards of the office according to the New Testament scripture: Acts 6:7, 1Timothy 3:1-7.  

 

Position Description:

The Pastor is responsible for the leadership and direction of the church. The Pastor is responsible for being a spiritual leader of the Christian faith. The duties of the Pastor is preaching the gospel to the congregation, organizing activities, church events, and meeting of or with the congregation to strengthen their faith, and shall demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to teach.

 

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. Demonstrates characteristics of a disciple of Jesus.
  2. Exhibits spiritual maturity in the gospel.
  3.  Committed to following the Church Covenant and Constitution.
  4. Baptist Ordination.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: 

The Pastor should have a Bachelor’s Degree, Master of Divinity (MDiv), and completed Seminary training.

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1.  Keep information confidential when working with the congregation to better counsel and comfort members in times of crisis.
  2.  Demonstrates leadership and leader development.
  3.  Understands the vision, mission and purpose of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
  4.  Demonstrates wisdom in decisions, actions and recommendations. 
  5.  Strong moral character to give a good religious example to the congregation.
  6.  Communication skills must be clear and effective both verbally and in writing with the congregation, staff, and media. 

 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Preparing and preaching the gospel for the congregation to meet their spiritual needs.
  2.  Fulfill duties defined in the Church Constitution.
  3.  Facilitate worship service, Bible studies, and small group studies. 
  4.  Ability to work effectively with the Deacons and Trustees.
  5.  Develop clearly defined expectations for ministry leaders.
  6.  Management skills to work with all staff employees.
  7.  Provide guidance to motivate and align the church toward specific vision and direction.
  8.  Officiate at baptisms, weddings, and funerals.

 COMPENSATION:

 

Salary Range is ($90,000.00 dollars - $115,000.00) annually.
